Student Attendance Policy

In order to achieve our ambitious mission, scholars at Atlas Schools must be in school, on time, all day, every day. In order to succeed at school and build habits that will carry into their future, consistent attendance is key to achievement. Atlas believes it is the responsibility of the guardian(s) of the student to ensure that the student attends school daily and complies with school attendance rules to receive an appropriate education. Regular attendance is a key factor that leads to academic and social success.

School Hours

  • Elementary & High School: 7:55 AM – 3:15 PM (Fri: 2:15 PM)

  • Middle School: 8:30 AM – 3:50 PM (Fri: 2:50 PM)

Attendance Basics

  • Present: At school or activity for half the day (by 11:00 AM)

  • Tardy: After 7:55 / 8:30 start time

  • Chronic Absence: 14+ days/semester or 28/year

Report All Absences

  • Call your student's front office or complete an absence form via the app or website before 10 am for every absence

  • A Pre-Arranged Absence Form needs to be completed for an absence of 5 days or more (forms can be requested from the front office)

  • Keep contact info updated on PowerSchool

  • Six (6) Family Excused Absences allowed per school year

  • All others require documentation

Unexcused If:

  • Not reported

  • No documentation

  • Family Excused Absences are used up (six (6)/school year)

  • Not allowed under contract

Tardies / Early Dismissals

  • Must be signed in/out

  • No early pickup in the last 20 minutes

  • Must have a written excuse

Truancy Steps

  • 6 unexcused: Contact family

  • 10 unexcused: Mandatory meeting + contract

  • May result in retention, loss of re-enrollment, or referral to DHS

3-Tier Support System

  • Tier 1: Calls/reminders

  • Tier 2: Email + report

  • Tier 3: Meeting + contract + possible court action
